LTD attorneys are your best possible resource for protecting your LTD (Long Term Disability) insurance claim, which could be worth hundreds of thousands or even millions of dollars over the course of years. Unlike a one-time claim with an insurance company, this claim carries months or years of potential payouts by the disability insurance company.

Because of what is at stake, the insurance company does not roll over. This is not a process to take on by yourself, especially during a time when you can’t work because of a disabling condition. You are vulnerable, and the insurance company is counting on this to prevent you from pursuing your claim vigorously.

Many long-term disability law firms offer free consultations as part of their own screening process. They want to know if you have a substantial claim that they can take on and win. To do this, most law firms have a screening process where you talk with an assistant, or even a chatbot, before determining whether or not you’ll get to speak with an attorney.

For some law firms, the closest you’ll get to a partner will be when you sign a retainer and they welcome you to the firm. The rest of the time, you’ll be interfacing with associates or paralegals.

We think your case is too important to let anyone with less than two decades of success in the field talk with you even before you become a client.

Here’s what we do in the course of a free consultation at Newfield Law Group.

First, we’ll thank you for contacting us. We know you’re trying to make a hard decision, and we appreciate your reaching out.

Next, we will ask you some questions that are personal. We need to know about you, your disability, and your claim. We don’t do “hi-hello-nice-to-meet-you-sign here” consultations.

We can’t know your situation without knowing things like:

  • Where you live and work
  • What you do for a living, do you have a title, and how much you earn
  • What long term disability insurance policies do you own?
  • The monthly benefits for the policies
  • What is your disabling condition and how long have you been disabled?
  • Are you completely disabled or do you work on a part-time basis?
  • Where are you in the claims process – at the beginning, when you haven’t filed a claim? Have you filed a claim and it was denied? Or did you try to manage the appeal on your own, and was that denied?

We’re also going to ask you to share documents (often in advance), and you should have them handy for our conversation. They include:

  • Any original long-term disability insurance policies
  • If your disability insurance claim has been denied or terminated, the denial or termination letter for your claim from the disability insurance company.
  • Any medicals that are relevant to the issues.

Once we’ve reviewed your documents and had a conversation, we’ll be able to tell you what we believe, based on more than twenty-five years of representing claimants, what you can expect from the insurance company. We’ll be able to tell you how and why your claim is being managed as it is, how good your claim support may be, and issues and strategies for having a denial or termination overturned.

We’ll also talk with you very honestly about the finances involved – we’ll calculate the value of your claim over the life of the policy and what it will take to secure it.

At Newfield Law Group, we understand how important this is to your financial future, and we don’t send your records off to a junior associate to review. Your discussion will be with Jason Newfield, an experienced long term disability attorney who knows the law, the players, the medicine, and the cases.

We invite you to call us today to talk about your claim. The call is free, and you’ll come away with a better understanding of your situation. If your claim was denied, the clock is ticking – don’t delay.
